The Southborough Fire/EMS Department started operating the ambulance service at the Paramedic Level on Saturday, March 16, 2002. An open house for the media was conducted on Mach 20th. In attendance were Selectmen William Christensen and David Parry, Town Administrator Janice Conlin, State Representative Paul Loscocco, Dr. Taryn Kennedy, MD - Department Medical Control Physician, Stephen Nelson - Metropolitan Boston Emergency Medical Services Council, Michael Aries - PFFM, Lt. Victor Robidoux - Department EMS director, FF/EMT-P Francis Mahoney, FF/EMT-P Christain Dano, FF/EMT-P Mark Sadowski, FF/EMT-P Christopher Shanahan, Captain EMT-I Joseph Hubley and Police Chief William Colleary.
Obtaining a paramedic license for the Town of Southborough Fire Department was the greatest accomplishment since the Department started operating the ambulance service in 1971. My sincere thanks to everyone that made this possible. Special thanks go out to the Department's ALS committee (Lt. Robidoux and FF/EMT-P's Dano, Mahoney, Sadowski, Shanahan and Strong), and ALL members of the Southborough Fire Department for their countless hours (a great deal without compensation) and energy that went into making this goal a reality. Fire Chief John D. Mauro, Jr.
