Tree falls on utility wires on Oak Hill Road, closing street and causing an oil spill

August 6, 2007

A tree at 50 Oak Hill Road fell on utility wires and into the street shortly after the passing of a thunderstorm at 3:58 PM taking down a utility pole. The tree completely blocked the street for over two hours. The utility pole contained an electric transformer, which leaked oil onto the street when it hit the ground.

Power on Oak Hill Road was out for over two hours, and traffic was detoured until the tree and wires could be removed from the street.

National Grid responded as well as their hazardous materials clean-up contractor to clean up the spill.
