Record March rainfall causes flooding issues around Southborough

Record March rainfall in the Southborough area caused flooding issues throughout areas normally prone to flooding: areas around the Sudbury River and Sudbury Reservoir. Additionally, dozens of basements experienced excessive flooding and assistance from the Fire Department in removing hazards and assisting with flooding. Approximately 12.87" of rain was recorded at Southborough's Public Safety Complex for the month.

After the ducks swam away, Engine 22 went through the 5" of water covering the roadway to ensure emergency responders could reach the houses at the end of Wood Street.

The elevation of the Sudbury Reservoir rose to nearly one foot above the spillway at the Fayville Dam. At one point, the dam was spilling at a rate of over 360 milling gallons of water a day on 3/31/10.
