June 25, 2007

Call firefighters Matthew Hubley, Mark Lister and Jason Neal has spent two nights a week and several weekend days of their own time since January attending the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy Call/Volunteer Class 019. Their effort paid off Monday evening when the three members received their graduation certificates.

For safety reasons, firefighters in Southborough and many other communities cannot enter burning buildings until they are fully trained and certified. These three members will take their certification exams this summer.

Members from several departments received certificates including Ashland, Dover, Holliston, Medfield, Millis, Northborough, Sherborn and Stow.

Matthew Hubley, a third generation firefighter, was presented his certificate by his father, call Lieutenant George A. Hubley, Jr and his uncle, Captain Joseph E. Hubley.

Mark Lister was presented his certificate by his father, Department Chaplain Craig Lister.

Jason Neal was presented his certificate by Fire Chief John Mauro.
