Town of
Southborough
Are you a motivated
person looking for ways to help your family, neighbors and community during
times of emergencies and disasters and be a part of vital team?
The Town of Southborough
Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) is looking for citizen volunteers to
join the Town’s Citizen Emergency
Response Team (CERT).
CERT is a nationally recognized program that organizes and trains motivated
citizens to assist in vital roles during various community and regional
emergencies. CERT volunteers are
trained to respond to emergency situations in their communities and workplaces.
They provide critical support to first responders, provide immediate
assistance to victims, and organize spontaneous volunteers at disaster sites.
CERT members deliver basic emergency medical treatment, disaster fire
suppression, and light search and rescue services to their community in
coordination with professional emergency responders. CERT members assist in other
vital non-hazardous roles during emergencies such as providing clerical and
business related assistance, such as accounting, providing specialized
equipment, such as off-road vehicles and providing specialized skills, such as
structural engineering and auto repair. CERT members are also trained in
disaster preparedness and take part in projects during non-disaster times to
improve the safety of their communities.
As a Southborough CERT member you will receive free classroom and practical
training on various related topics and qualify for several
Massachusetts
and National certifications.
If you are at least 18 years of
age, a resident of Southborough or a surrounding town and are committed to the
helping others and the community we encourage you to join!
