Fire destroys pick-up truck on Central Street as CSX rail crossing

Fire destroyed a pick-up truck on Central Street during the afternoon of August 7, 2009. The owner of the truck was traveling south on Central Street when he smelled smoke and noticed flames coming from the truck's bed. He pulled over and tried unsuccessfully to extinguish the fire.

It took firefighters approximately five minutes to knock the fire down, and another 30 or so minutes to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.

No injuries were reported. Central Street was closed for approxmiately 30 minutes.

The fire is currently under investigation.
