One injured in rollover of a camper on I-495
August 6, 2007
The driver of a pick-up truck towing a camper trailer was injured when his vehicle struck a guardrail and rolled over in the northbound lane of Interstate 495 at 11:18 AM, just south of the Main Street overpass. The pick-up truck rolled onto its side, and the camper separated from the frame and undercarriage and landed up-side-down on the highway.
Arriving firefighters found not only an injured person, but also a hazardous materials incident due to leaking propane lines from the camper. All three lanes of the highway were shut down until the leak could be contained. Only the left travel land remained open until the patient could be treated and transported to the hospital, and the camper and truck removed.
Fire units cleared the highway at 12:32 PM.
