Dry weather and discarded match cause fire

Firefighters responded to a house on Hickory Road at 2:55 PM after a report of a house fire. Due to the nature of the call, Box 16 was sounded recalling off-duty and on-call firefighters. An aerial ladder from Westborough was also called as Southborough's aerial is out of service.

Arriving firefighters found the homeowner had extinguished a fire that started in dry mulch and spread to the house.

Firefighters ensured that the fire did not spread and were clear of the scene by 2:55 PM.

Damage to the house.

Firefighters Paul Pierce and Tom Hogan wet down the area and inspect for damage.
