Cigarette causes small fire at Cordaville Road business

Southborough's 9-1-1 communication center received a report of a building fire at 150 Cordaville Road at 3:32 PM. A first alarm was sounded recalling off-duty and call personnel. The fire alarm from the building was received shortly after the phone call was received.
Arriving Firefighters found a fire in the exterior wood facade of the building, with a moderate smoke condition inside of the business. A worker was in the process of extinguishing the fire with a hand-held fire extinguisher. Firefighters completed the extinguishment of the fire using tank water. The facade was removed and checked for extension of the fire inside. Two exhaust fans were used to remove smoke which spread throughout the building.
The cause of the fire was improper disposal of smoking material.
The last unit left the scene at 4:56 PM.

Firefighters remove the facade of the building that received fire damage, and check to ensure that fire did not extend into the space above the entry.
Fire apparatus lines the driveway.
The fire was caused by improper disposal of smoking material.
