Firefighters respond to oil spill at a local truck company
2/2/08
Firefighters were called to New York Ave for an oil spill shortly after 7:00 AM on February 2nd. Officials at the company reported that in excess of 260 gallons of motor oil was released overnight. the oil made its way into a catch basin containment system on site, and was pooling on the ground. Firefighters responded in Car 30, Engine 23 and Rescue 25, and upon arrival set up absorbent material to stop the spread of the oil. Firefighters also checked surrounding catch basins for spread.
Because the site straddles both Southborough and Framingham, their Fire Department and Department of Public Works was notified and responded.
The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection Emergency Response division also responded.
Clean-up was provided by the company's private contractor.
No injuries were reported and contamination was contained to the property of origin.
